The Polson Police Department uses the Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP), which is intended to provide quality and professional training to our new entry level probationary Police Officers. The FTEP is 14 weeks in length based on the nationally recognized San Jose Model.
We realize that previous law enforcement experience may, in some cases, allow for a shortened accelerated program for experienced lateral entry Police Officers. To be considered for the accelerated FTEP, new officers must currently hold a Montana Law Enforcement certificate or the equivalent from another state law enforcement academy.
The FTEP allows the Polson Police Department to use its resources and personnel in an effective manner to establish the needed on the job training for our employees.
